TROY, Alabama – Troy men's basketball head coach Phil Cunningham addressed the Dothan City Council on Tuesday morning, discussing the December 17 game the Trojans will play at the Dothan Civic Center.
Tickets for the game against Paine College can be purchased at the Dothan Civic Center, DothanCivicCenter.org, Etix.com or by calling (334) 615-3175. Tickets for the game include $15 tickets for the lower bowl, $10 tickets for the upper bowl and $6 tickets with a valid Troy student ID.
Special packages for the game will be available through the Troy Wiregrass Alumni Association, and can be found by calling the Civic Center or by following the Troy University Wiregrass Alumni Association on Facebook. All proceeds will go towards a Troy scholarship fund. Last year, the Wiregrass Alumni Association gave $8,000 worth of scholarships to local Troy students.
The Trojans also began official practice for the 2015-16 season this week when they took the court at Trojan Arena on Monday morning for the beginning of their first two-a-day.
Troy's season begins on November 5, with an exhibition game when AUM visits Trojan Arena AUM for a 7:30 p.m. tip. The Troy women's squad will also play, as they host Stillman in an exhibition game at 5:15 p.m.
The Trojans' opener will be on the road at South Florida in Tampa, Fla. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT at the USF Sun Dome.
Troy then returns to the friendly confines of Trojan Arena for its home opener against Reinhardt, as a part of the Mean Green Showcase, on November 15 at 2 p.m.
The Trojans return two starters from last season in Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Wesley Person and lone senior, John Walton III. The squad also returns four other letterwinners: Kelton Ford, Christian Harrison, Jordan Howard and Aaron Ariri. Jeremy Hollimon, Jaro Moravek and Damion Ottman all return after redshirting during the 2014-15 season.
Joining the team this year are junior college transfers Daniel Peace and Alex Hicks, and three freshmen: Jordon Varnado, Shawn Hopkins and B.J. Miller.
