Troy Soccer Falls to Georgia State
10/18/2015 3:46:00 PM | Soccer
Atlanta, GEORGIA – The Troy soccer team fell to Georgia State, 2-1, in double overtime on Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Field.
Â
Suzanne Arafa scored the game-wining goal for Georgia State (9-4-3, 3-3-1 Sun Belt) in the 107th minute. The Panthers tied the game at one in the 61st minute off an Ashley Nagy goal.
Â
Troy (12-4, 5-2 Sun Belt) scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute when Jasmine Fahrnbauer found Abby Reynolds who put it in the back of the net.
Â
"I'm disappointed with the performance today," Jason Hamilton said. "You can't win games if you get out worked. Georgia State out worked us the entire game and deserved the win. We didn't look like a team that has only given up nine goals before today. We were very exposed and could have given up quite a few more. That has to improve for us to have any hope in the tournament."
Â
The Trojans finished the game with 12 shots and landed four on goal. Chelsey Williams lead Troy with three, followed by Annabell Simpson, Alissa Jones and Fahrnbauer with two. Kirsten Rendall, Brittany Yoder and Reynolds had one.
Â
Mikki Lewis (10-4) suffered the loss, but recorded seven saves in the match.
Â
Troy returns home on Friday for a match with Arkansas State at 7 p.m.
