Troy Travels to Georgia for Matches Between Georgia Southern and Georgia State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy soccer team will travel to Georgia for a match against Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., on Friday at 6 p.m. and a match against Georgia State in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday at noon.

Troy (11-3, 4-1 Sun Belt) has won six of its last seven matches and is on a four-match win streak. The Trojans outscored their last two opponents 7-1 with five different players scoring a goal.
Alissa Jones leads the Trojans with 16 points on the season, including six goals and four assists. Chelsey Williams has 15 points on five goals and five assists. Brooke McKee has 12 points with four goals and four assists. Troy has outscored its opponents 27-9 this season and has outshot their opponents 211-126.
The Troy defense has only allowed nine goals this year, which is the fewest allowed in the Sun Belt. The Trojans have a goals against average of 0.64, which marks them for second best in the conference.
Reigning Sun Belt Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, Mikki Lewis (9-3), leads the conference in goals against average (0.64), save percentage (.875) and shutouts (6).

Georgia State (8-3-3, 2-2-1 Sun Belt) is led by two players with 15 points this season. Caitlin Ray has seven goals and one assist, while Suzanne Arafa has six goals and three assists.
Troy and Georgia Southern have only met twice all-time and each of the schools has won a match. The first meeting came in 1997 as the Trojans dropped that game 8-1 in Troy. The Trojans won last year's match 3-0 in Troy.
