Mikki Lewis Named Sun Belt Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week

TROY, Alabama – Mikki Lewis was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. She is the first defensive player to earn that feat this season for the Trojans.

Lewis picked up two wins last weekend and has not given up a goal in her last 371 minutes played. She played the first half against Texas State on Friday night and recorded two saves. Lewis played the entire game against Appalachian State on Sunday and collected four saves. She had a 1.000 save percentage for the weekend, didn't allow a goal and picked up her sixth shutout of the season, a conference-high.

"We are very excited for Mikki, but I know without a doubt that she would want her teammates to be recognized as well," Jason Hamilton said. "This is the second week in a row defensively we have made it difficult for our opponents to get any good chances. The chances they do get, Mikki is there to deal with them confidently."

This is Lewis' fourth career student-athlete of the week award (formerly known as player of the week). She won the award three different times last season.
