Â
TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's and women's basketball teams will host Basketball Fan Day this Saturday prior to the Homecoming football game against Idaho. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Trojans, pick up this year's posters and get autographs and pictures from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Tailgate Terrace, next to the Sonic Kid's Zone.
Â
Prior to Fan Day, the Troy men's team will host an intrasquad scrimmage that is open to the public at Trojan Arena at 11 a.m.
Â
The men's squad returns two starters from last season in Wesley Person, the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and John Walton III, the team's lone senior. The Trojans return four other letterwinners in Kelton Ford, Christian Harrison, Jordan Howard and Aaron Ariri.
Â
The Troy men also feature three returning redshirts from last year's roster and have added five new faces to the 2015-16 roster.
Â
The Troy women went 20-11 and made a postseason appearance in the WBI a season ago, the first 20-win season and postseason berth in nearly two decades for the program. The Trojans return Mid-Major All-American and two-time All-Sun Belt selection Ashley Beverly Kelley. The senior was the Sun Belt's second-leading scorer last season.
Â
The women's squad also features a second senior in Rachel Reid and four returning post players in Lauren Day, Kristen Emerson, Caitlyn Ramirez and Dajia Williams. The Troy roster features eight newcomers, the most for a Chanda Rigby coached team at Troy.
Â
Both teams will return to the court when they host an exhibition doubleheader at Trojan Arena on Thursday, Nov. 5. The Troy women will take on Stillman at 5:15 p.m., followed by the men hosting AUM at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibition doubleheader is free.
Â
The Troy women open their regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 13, when West Alabama visits for a 12 p.m. game at Trojan Arena. The Troy men open their regular season that night at South Florida.Â
Â
The Troy men host their regular-season home opener on Sunday, Nov. 15, when Reinhardt visits Trojan Arena at 2 p.m.
