Trojans Carry Momentum to Georgia State

ATLANTA – The Troy men's basketball team hits the road Saturday as it travels to Atlanta to take on Georgia State at the GSU Sports Arena. Tip off between the Trojans and Panthers is set for 1 p.m. (CST).

Troy (6-6, 1-2) is coming off a 71-66 win over UT Arlington at Trojan Arena on Monday. The Trojans were led by Wesley Person to earn their first conference win. Person, who set a career-high in points for the second straight game, led the Trojans with 31 points. He ended the night shooting 11-of-16 from the floor, highlighted by his 5-of-6 showing from beyond the arc. Chris Bilbo also posted a career-best with 17 points, while dishing out three assists.

In the win, Troy shot 53.2 percent from the floor, courtesy of a 68.2 percent showing in the second half. The Trojans also shot 50 percent from 3-point range, tying its best effort of the season.

Georgia State (9-6, 2-2) is coming off two straight losses this week, after losing just one Sun Belt game all of last year. After posting convincing wins over ULM and UALR, the Panthers fell to Texas State in double overtime at home, 77-74. GSU then travelled to UL Lafayette Thursday night and fell to the Ragin' Cajuns, 84-80.

In the loss to ULL, R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow combined for 52 points. Hunter finished with a team-high 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting, knocking down five 3-pointers, while Harrow added 25, including 16 in the second half.

R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow rank second and third, respectively, in the Sun Belt in scoring average with 20.0 and 19.9 points per game. Hunter ranks 24th in the nation in scoring, and Harrow ranks 25th.

Troy owns a 19-14 advantage over Georgia State in the school's history. In Atlanta, GSU leads the series 8-7. Last year, the Panthers and Trojans split the series, as Troy defeated GSU at Trojan Arena, 85-81, in what was the Panthers' only Sun Belt loss of the season.

Following Saturday's game, Troy travels to Monroe, La., on Thursday, January 15, to face ULM at Fant–Ewing Coliseum. Tip off between the Warhawks and Trojans is set for 7 p.m.
