Troy Men’s Hoops Hits the Road for UT Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Troy men's basketball team hits the road for three straight games, beginning with a match up against UT Arlington on Saturday at the College Park Center. Tip off between the Mavericks and Trojans is slated for 7:15 p.m.

Troy (7-12, 2-8) is coming off four straight losses, all of which were decided by an average of 6.3 points. In Troy's last eight contests, the games have all been decided by single digits, averaging a 6.0-point margin.
The Trojans most recently fell to ULM in overtime, 58-55. Four Trojans tallied double figures, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Warhawks. Musa Abdul-Aleem paced Troy with 17 points, 11 of which came in the first half.
Kevin Thomas earned his 11th career double-double, seventh of the season, reeling in a game-high 11 boards and chipping in 10 points. Thomas also tied a career-high with four blocks. Wesley Person and John Walton added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
UT Arlington (12-8. 6-4) is coming off an 88-74 loss at home to Georgia State, which snapped UTA's three-game winning streak. UTA held an 11-point lead with 11 minutes left, but was unable to hold off the Panthers. Kevin Hervey paced the Mavericks with a season-high 21 points and added eight rebounds. Lonnie McClanahan scored 14 while Jorge Bilbao set a career high with 11 points.
In the Trojans and Mavericks first matchup earlier this season, Person and Chris Bilbo posted career nights to give Troy the edge over UT Arlington, 71-66, at Trojan Arena for the Trojans' first conference win of the season.
Person led Troy by pouring in 31 points. He ended the night shooting 11-of-16 from the floor highlighted by his 5-of-6 showing from beyond the arc. Bilbo also tallied a career-best with 17 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the floor, while dishing out three assists.
The Trojans continue their road slate as they travels to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to face Arkansas State on Thursday.
