Â
On Saturday against Georgia Southern, Troy forced the Eagles into 25 turnovers while committing a season-low seven turnovers itself. Troy also pulled down 24 offensive rebounds that, along with the turnovers, made for a big discrepancy in shooting. The Trojans attempted a season-high 94 shots while Georgia Southern took just 61 shots.
Â
Ronita Garrett led the Trojans with her third straight double-double as she recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three assists and five steals. The senior now has 10 double-doubles on the season, the most in the Sun Belt and 12th most in the NCAA. Garrett averages 13.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, ranking eighth and second in the Sun Belt, respectively.
          Â
Ashley Beverly-Kelley is Troy's leading scorer at 14.3 points per game, the sixth best mark in the Sun Belt, and now has 985 career points. The junior has played in 76 career games and will soon become the 21st player in Troy history to reach 1,000 career points.
          Â
Lacey Buchanon has stepped up lately, scoring in double figures in each of the last three games off the Troy bench. During that stretch, Buchanon has 43 points, 10 assists and just two turnovers. She is one of seven different Trojans that have led the team in scoring this season.
          Â
After scoring 80-plus points in each of its last three games, Troy is now leading the Sun Belt in scoring at 74.8 points per game. The Trojans also lead the league in rebounding (43.7), assists (15.0) and steals (11.4).
          Â
Appalachian State (8-7, 3-3) is coming off of a 76-71 home loss to Georgia State, but is just four days removed from a 70-69 win over then league leader Arkansas State. Maryah Sydnor leads the Mountaineers and ranks second in the conference with 17.7 points per game. She also averages a team-best 9.2 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in the Sun Belt.Â
