TROY, Ala.- Former Trojan Josh Warren is currently taking part in workouts with the Memphis Grizzlies, in an effort to make the training camp squad.
Â
"Workouts with the Grizzlies have been going great," Warren said. "To have the chance to play with such great talent and compete up and down the floor with these guys is a great honor. It's all becoming very clear to me that I belong here. Everyday I tell myself, 'Let no one out work you, and let no one want it more than you.' I'm working out for an NBA team, which is every basketball player's dream. Staying positive and focused on your dream is the best way to make it."
Â
Warren is currently working out with free agents, former NBA players and recent college graduates. Their days consist of lifting weights, playing five-on-five and then voluntary shoot around at night.
Â
"Receiving an invitation to participate in an NBA training camp is a dream come true for Josh or anyone else who has ever played college basketball," said Troy head coach Phil Cunningham. "Words cannot express how excited we are for Josh, and how proud we are of this opportunity he has with the Grizzlies! I can assure you that nobody in that training camp will outwork Josh!"
Â
Warren, a 6-foot-9 center from Orlando, Fla., played his junior and senior seasons at Troy. Over the course of his two years, he played in 64 games tallying 148 points. Warren led the team in rebounds in seven games in the 2013-14 season, his career-high being 11, two times.
Â
Prior to his time at Troy, Warren played two seasons at Brevard Community College, where he averaged 4.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game during his freshman season, while shooting a team-best 52 percent from the field.
Â
Warren graduated from Troy with his degree in Social Science this past summer.
