Women's Golf Leads Chris Banister Classic After Two Rounds; Trojans Hold Top Two Individual Spots

GLENCOE, Alabama – Fátima Fernández Cano fired a 2-under 70 and Troy maintained its team lead Monday on day two of the Chris Banister Golf Classic at the Silver Lakes Golf Course. Cano and Langley Vannoy hold down the top two individual spots on the leaderboard heading into the final round.
Cano's sub-par round is the only one through the first two rounds of the tournament among the field of 67 golfers. She holds a one-stroke lead over Vannoy heading into the final round. Cano is 3-under on the par 5s through the first two rounds and has sunk seven birdies, while Vannoy is 1-under on the par 3s.
Vannoy, who was in a three-way tie for first following the opening round, carded a 1-over on Monday. Taylor McGraw matched her opening round score with another 78 in the second round and remained tied for 17th place. Kalyn Hudson shot an 82 and is in sole possession of 31st place while Becca Horner also carded an 82 and is tied for 40th place.
The Trojans hold a three-stroke advantage over Morehead State heading into Tuesday's final round. Samford sits 13 shots back in third while Jacksonville State is 15 shots off the pace and UAB rounds out the top five 19 shots behind Troy.
Troy will hit the course with Morehead State and Samford beginning at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday looking for its second team title in its the last four tournaments.
