GLENCOE, Alabama – Paced by individual leader Langley Vannoy, the Troy women's golf team holds a three-shot lead over the 11-team field following Sunday's opening round of the Chris Banister Golf Classic at the Silver Lakes Golf Course.
Vannoy played a steady round with 13 pars to finish 1-over on the day and in a three-way tie for first with Samford's Emily Stallings and Morehead State's Jeanette Peterson. The Trojans lead Morehead State by three shots and have a five-stroke advantage over Samford.
Fátima Fernández Cano shot a 3-over 75 thanks to four birdies, which were the second most of the day. The sophomore is tied for fifth place following the first of three rounds. Taylor McGraw shot a 6-over and is tied for 17th place, while Kalyn Hudson and Becca Horner are tied for 22nd and 42nd, respectively.
The Trojans will hit the course at 7:57 a.m. Monday for the second of three rounds and will be paired with Morehead State and Samford.
