TROY, Alabama – The Troy football team travels to Monroe, La., to open their conference slate against the ULM Warhawks. The Trojans are looking to bounce back after a tough loss at No. 13 Georgia.
The game will be televised on ESPN 3, with kick off set for 6 p.m (CT). The game can also be heard on the Troy Sports Radio Network with play-by-play coverage from Barry McKnight, color commentary from Jerry Miller and sideline reports from Chris Blackshear.
The Trojans (0-4, 0-0 SBC) are searching for their first win of the season as they head to Malone Stadium looking for revenge after last year's hard fought 37-49 loss. Troy looks to carry on tradition, as it is has the highest win percentage in Sun Belt league history.
Quarterback Dontreal Pruitt earned his first career start against Georgia last week taking over for Brandon Silvers, who was the starter before being injured against Abilene Christian. Pruitt completed 16-of-27 passes for 158 yards against the Bulldogs.
Head Coach Larry Blakeney is hopeful to have both of his signal callers on Saturday. "I think (Silvers) is feeling better. He will need to practice before we can put him out there. If not, we have Dontreal (Pruitt). Pruitt obviously wasn't perfect, but he did some good things against a really good team (Georgia). We need to get him the reps and do some things for his package in the offense that he can do better. Silvers is a great player and I hope we get him back. We will probably still play both of them."
The Troy quarterbacks have completed their passes to 18 different receivers, which is the most by any team in the nation. Chandler Worthy leads all Trojan receivers with 14 catches for 184 yards.
Montres Kitchens is currently the team's leading tackler with 32 total tackles. He also grabbed one interception against UAB.
The Warhawks (2-1, 1-0 SBC) are coming off a bye week. ULM is 2-0 at home this season with two seven-point wins over Wake Forest and Sun Belt newcomer Idaho. Their lone loss came at LSU two weeks ago.
Troy leads the series with ULM, 8-6-1, with a 2-4-1 disadvantage at Monroe. Troy has lost three straight games in Monroe, including in 2008 and 2010, when the Trojans went on to win the Sun Belt Championship.
