Bettcher Fires 4-Under to Lead Troy on Day Two of The Invitational at Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Jared Bettcher birdied three of his final four holes to finish 4-under and lead Troy on Saturday in the second round of The Invitational at Kiawah. The Trojans shot a 2-over 290 as a team on Kiawah's Ocean Course.
Bettcher moved to 5-under for the tournament and sits in fourth place and just three strokes behind Western Carolina's Bright Julamool for the individual lead. Troy moved up a spot into fifth place and is just five shots out of second place; South Florida leads the field by 16 strokes.
Troy made its move over the final four holes of the round, the same four holes that gave the Trojans fits during the opening round. Friday, Troy recorded four double-bogeys and four bogeys on the final four holes, on Saturday it was quite a different story with eight birdies, two bogeys and one double-bogey.
Luke Moser sank four birdies and shot a 1-over 73 to move into a tie for 25th place, while Tolver Dozier sits in a tie for 30th following a 2-over 74. Phillip Brennan added three birdies and shot a 4-over while Jake Tucker carded a 3-over.
Troy took advantage of its opportunities on the par 5s so far this weekend playing the holes to a mark of 7-under; the second best in the field. Troy's 28 birdies through the first two rounds rank sixth best, while its 108 pars are tied for second best.
The teams will play the final 18 holes of the tournament Sunday with a shotgun start.
