Pair of Men’s Golfers Named All-America Scholars

TROY, Ala. – Troy rising seniors Phillip Brennan and Tolver Dozier have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Athletes, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.
A total of 207 NCAA Division I student-athletes received the honor which is presented to an individual who must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Dozier recently qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship after tying for first at a qualifier in Florida last week. It will be the Dothan, Ala., native's second trip to the U.S. Amateur Championship after he qualified for the event in 2012.
Dozier played in nine tournaments for the Trojans this past season and finished with a 74.7 stroke average over 27 rounds. He turned in a pair of top-20 finishes with his best coming at the Pinetree Intercollegiate where he tied for sixth after a 1-over 217.
Brennan, a Mobile, Ala., native, finished third on the team this past season with a 74.34 stroke average over 10 tournaments and 29 rounds. He best round of the season was a 4-under 68 at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship as he went on to finish in a tie for fifth at the event. Brennan tied for ninth at the Eagle/Osprey Intercollege and finished the year with six top-25 finishes.
