JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Troy track and field team wrapped up the second day of competition at the NCAA East Regional at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium on Friday.
Â
Jordan Landburg competed in both the men's 400-meter semifinal and 200-meter quarterfinals during the day's events and has advanced to Saturday's 200-meter dash semifinals. Landburg placed 23rd overall and fifth in his heat in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.12 seconds. The 200-meter semifinal race will take place on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (CDT).
Â
Landburg's 15th place, 46.46-second performance in the 400 meters was just outside of the top-12 to advance to the next round, however head coach Jill Lancaster said Landburg has made quite an impact during his time with the Trojans.
Â
"In the short two years that Landburg has been with the Trojans he has made huge strides and put his name in the record books," Lancaster said. "He has had two first round NCAA appearances and has been a huge team scorer with numerous conference recognitions."
Â
Ben Martin finished in 18th place in the men's 100-meter dash, just shy of qualifying for the national championship. Martin has had an extremely successful junior season, picking up four first-place finishes in the 100m. Martin won the 100m and placed second as a part of the men's 4x100-meter relay at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Â
"Ben had a stellar season and looks to use the information he has learned in his preparation for his senior season," said Lancaster.
Â
Corina Cox placed 22nd in the women's discus competition with a 50.11-meter throw. Cox has had a standout freshman season with the Trojans, placing second in the conference in women's discus. Cox has also picked up four first place finishes in the event over the season.
Â
Myles Charley finished his second event of the regional competition on Friday with 29th place finish in the men's triple jump. Charley placed 38th in the long jump on Thursday. Charley set a new personal record this season with a 15.21-meter triple jump.
Â
"Myles got better in every jump and competed hard. This performance would have beat his personal best last year," Lancaster said. "Charley will looking forward to taking this experience into next year and plans to return in his quest for the national championship."
