NCAA Track & Field East Prelims Open Thursday with Five Troy Athletes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five members of the Troy University track and field team are set to compete in the 2014 NCAA East Preliminaries held at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium. Competition will commence on Thursday at 11 a.m. (CDT) and wraps up on Saturday night.

The top 12 competitors in each event will move on to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.

The Trojans are ranked in the top 25 in four of the seven events in which they will compete.
Â
Benjamin Martin is ranked fourth in the men's 100-meter dash, with a time on 10.11 seconds. He will race in the first round of the 100-meters on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Jordan Landburg is ranked 17th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.39 seconds, as well as 25th in the men's 200-meter dash. His first race will be the 400-meters on Friday at 5 p.m. followed by the men's 200-meters at 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Freshman Corina Cox is ranked 20th in the women's discus with a 51.43-meter throw. Cox will compete on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Fellow thrower Zach Douglas is ranked 35th in the men's shot put. Douglas' competition will be held Thursday at 3 p.m.

Myles Charley will compete in both the men's long jump and triple jump at the preliminaries. Charley's first competition will be the long jump on Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by the triple jump on Friday at 4 p.m.
