2014 Schedule
TROY, Ala. – Troy University women's soccer head coach Jason Hamilton released the team's 2014 schedule on Friday. The Trojans will host nine games including the 2014 Trojan Classic.
Â
"I am very excited with our schedule, I think there are some very good non-conference games that will help us prepare for Sun Belt Conference play," Hamilton said. "We don't really have a single easy game on the schedule when you look at it."
Â
Troy will open its season on the road against LSU (Aug. 22) and Louisiana Tech (Aug. 24) before retuning home to take on Alabama State (Aug. 26). The Trojans will again host the Trojan Classic (Aug. 29-31) with Kennesaw State and Tennessee State participating.
Â
Other non-conference contests include trips to Gardner-Webb (Sept. 5) and the South Alabama Tournament to square off against Francis Marion (Sept. 19) and North Florida (Sept. 21). Jacksonville State (Sept. 12) and UAB (Sept. 14) will pay visits to Troy.
Â
"There are teams like LSU and UAB that are very challenging, then other teams under new leadership such as North Florida, Gardner-Webb and Tennessee Tech that will be motivated similar to us," said Hamilton.
Â
Troy will play home conference games against UL Lafayette (Oct. 3), ULM (Oct. 5), Georgia State (Oct 17), and Georgia Southern (Oct. 19). Sun Belt road-game opponents include South Alabama (Sept. 26), Appalachian State (Oct. 10), Texas State (Oct. 12), UALR (Oct. 24) and Arkansas State (Oct. 26).
Â
"It should be an exciting year in the Sun Belt Conference, with all the realignment that has happened in the past few years," Hamilton said. "It will be a year where everyone begins to settle down and feel out the opponents that will be here for years to come."
Â
The Trojans finished 8-10-1 overall and 4-3-1 in Sun Belt play last season. Hamilton begins his first season at the helm of the program after coming over from Florida in January.
