Former Troy Standout Tawanna Meadows on Team USA for IAAF World Relays

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Troy University standout track & field student-athlete Tawanna Meadows will compete for Team USA in the 4x100 meter relay at the inaugural IAAF World Relays Championships on May 24-25 in Nassau, Bahamas.

Meadows is one of the most decorated track & field athletes in Troy history as she still holds school records in the 4x100m relay (45.40), 4x200m relay (1:37.49), sprint medley relay (3:59.84), 100m dash (11.26) and 200m dash (23.14).

A NCAA Championship qualifier in 2008, Meadows was named the Sun Belt Conference Female Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year and the Sun Belt Conference Female Indoor Track & Field Co-Performer of the Year that same year.Â

Meadows, a native of Panama City, Fla., competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials and went on to win gold in the 100m later that summer at the NACAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Mexico.

A total of 55 athletes comprise the relay pools that will represent the United States at the event, which airs live on Universal Sports from 5:30-8 p.m. (CDT) on both days of competition.

The first competition of its kind, the IAAF World Relays Championships consist of the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800 and 4x1500 relays on both the men's and women's sides. Scheduled for primetime, the World Relays provide the only major world championship for the 2014 outdoor season.
 Nearly 50 nations are sending teams to Nassau for the World Relays, which is expected to qualify some teams for the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
