Several Trojans Post Season Best Marks on Day One at Coach “O” Invitational

Day One Results
TROY, Ala. – Friday marked the first day of competition at the 2014 Coach "O" Invitational at Jesse H. Colley Track on the Troy University campus.
Several field events took place, as well as the women's and men's 3000-meter steeplechase and the women's 10,000-meter run.
Many Trojan athletes had excellent showings and many set new season-best performances.
In the men's long jump both Myles Charley and Daniel Dent set new season-best records. Charley finished in second with a 7.17-meter jump. Before today's competition he was ranked 10th in the Sun Belt Conference. Dent's 7.06-meter performance earned him third place.
Demetris Elia finished the men's hammer throw competition in third place with a 57.79-meter throw. This is a new season-best for Elia, who beat his previous 56.14-meter performance that had him ranked seventh in the conference.
Samuel Johnson finished third in the men's pole vault with a 4.45-meter performance setting a new season-best, while Hayley Watts finished fourth in the women's competition.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Julia Ostendorf finished third in the women's race at 11:11.08. In the men's contest Sean Kent placed second and Cameron Allen finished third.
The women's 10,000-meter run wrapped up the day's events, with Mikayla Hodges finishing first with a time of 40:29.18.
Tomorrow's field events will continue beginning with the men's high jump at 10 a.m. Saturday's running events will commence at 11:30 a.m. with the Women's 4x100-meter relay.
