LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – UALR hit five home runs, including three in a five-run first inning, to defeat Troy 10-4 Sunday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field in the rubber game of the Sun Belt Conference series.

Troy (20-20, 7-10 Sun Belt) opened the scoring on a David Hall double in the top of the first after Clay Holcomb led off the game with a single to right. Hall, who finished 3-for-4, added his eighth homer of the season in the eighth.

Holcomb was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and Tyler Vaughn added a pair of hits as Troy out-hit UALR 11-10 in the game.

Justin Steelmon put UALR (16-21, 5-13) on the board with a three-run shot and Bryson Thionnet made it back-to-back homers for UALR. Following a pop up for the second out of the inning, Sam Vogel went deep for UALR's third homer of the opening frame.

UALR built its lead out to 7-1 with a pair of runs in the second, one aided by a Troy throwing error. The lead swelled to 9-1 in the fifth when Thionnet hit his second homer of the game and third of the weekend.

Hall's blast down the line in left and an RBI double by Jakob Nixon after a T.J. Binder two-out single cut the UALR lead down to 9-4 in the eighth. However, Vogel hit his second homer of the game – a solo shot – in the home half of the frame to set the final 10-4 margin.

Cameron Allen (4-3) picked up the win for UALR after he allowed four runs on 11 hits over 7.2 innings of work; he walked one and struck out seven.

Troy starter Ben Tidwell (1-1) couldn't make it out of the first inning after he allowed five runs on four hits and a pair of walks in two-thirds of an inning. Jesse Nelson tossed 4.1 innings out of the Troy bullpen and Levi Tate was solid with four strikeouts and just one run allowed over the final three innings.

Troy has a busy week in front of it with a pair of mid-week games at Samford on Tuesday and at Jacksonville State on Wednesday before hosting UT Arlington next weekend.
