TROY, Ala. – The Troy University baseball team will conclude its five-game road stretch with a pair of midweek games. The Trojans will travel to Birmingham on Tuesday to face Samford before heading east to take on Jacksonville State on Wednesday. Both games are slated for 6 p.m. start times and will be broadcast live on WTBF 94.7 FM and streamed on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (20-20) dropped its weekend road series to UALR, in which the first two games went to extra innings. Troy fell in game one 9-5 in 16 innings before rebounding to win game two 3-0 in 10 innings.
Offensively, David Hall continues to lead the way with a .352 average. The junior designated hitter blasted two home runs over the weekend to increase his team-high total to eight and also take over with 31 RBIs. Garrett Pitts will enter Tuesday's game with a modest seven-game hitting streak and leads the team with 56 hits.
Samford (24-16) is led at the plate by Tyler Fillben, who is batting .338 with eight home runs and 39 RBIs. The Bulldogs took two of three games from Georgia Southern over the weekend. Freshman Cody Pugh (2-3, 5.34) is the probable starter for Samford.
Right-hander Cody Hughes (0-0, 7.50) is expected to get the start on the mound in Tuesday's game while Wednesday's starter has yet to be determined.
