Troy Shuts Out ULM in Regular Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team closed its regular season with a shutout, 4-0, victory over ULM on a neutral court in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday. The Trojans now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Championships, which begin Thursday in New Orleans.
"The team really played with good intensity this weekend and they're playing well at the right time," Troy head coach Rawia Elsisi said. "Us and ULM both wanted to win this match before next week's conference tournament, and I'm proud that we got the win."
Troy (14-7) will enter next week's single-elimination, nine-team tournament having gone 9-1 in their last ten matches.
After Lyubov Dorofeeva and Hannah Toro won at No. 2 doubles, 8-2, ULM evened things up with a win at No. 3. Then, Troy's Anja Cosovic and Trang Huynh were tested for the first time in a while.
The duo was able to pick up an 8-7 (5) win over Medy Blankvoort and Sophie Rufyikiri to clinch the point. Huynh and Cosovic have won 16 straight doubles matches and are now 17-2 on the season.
In singles play, Durden got things started on the right foot as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Marnelle Boshoff at No. 6 singles. Cosovic was next to win as she defeated Petra Horakova, 6-1, 7-5, to move to 17-3 on the season.
Huynh clinched the match for the Trojans with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Blankvoort at No. 1 singles. Huynh has now won 10 straight singles matches and is 17-4 on the season.
