Troy Wraps up Spring Practice with Successful T-Day Game

TROY, Ala. – The Troy football team wrapped up spring camp with its annual T-Day Spring Game on Saturday in front of a crowd of 5,500 fans at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Over 100 former players and coaches were in attendance as head coach Larry Blakeney hosted a reunion prior to the game. Included in that group were current NFL players Jerrel Jernigan, Kanorris Davis and DuJuan Harris.

Fans got a first hand look at Troy's four-player quarterback battle between Brandon Silvers, Dontreal Pruitt, Dallas Tidwell and Connor Bravard.

"I really don't know who the starter is going to be," Blakeney said following the two-hour scrimmage. "The same leaders coming in are those who are leading heading out. I thought that Brandon had his moments and Dontreal had his moments."

Junior college transfer Jarvis Bentley made several nice catches on the afternoon, including one in the back of the end zone for a touchdown from Dallas Tidwell.

Jed Solomon opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter, while Marquell Beckwith had the game's first touchdown with a 2-yard run in the second quarter. Following a 37-yard pass from Pruitt to Bryan Holmes, Khary Franklin found the end zone from 1-yard out for the final score of the first half.

Solomon added a 26-yard field goal midway through the third quarter and Keith Johnson returned a fumble on a punt return 66 yards for a touchdown three minutes later. Following Bentley's touchdown grab, Silvers hooked up with Franklin for a 6-yard touchdown pass for the final score of the day.

Ethan Davis had an interception for the defense while Brandon Timmons and Tyler Roberts were credited with sacks.
