Trojans Host Georgia State in SBC Matchup

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team hosts its first Sun Belt Conference series this weekend, as newcomer Georgia State makes its way to the Troy Softball Complex on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's double-header will begin at 1:30 p.m., while Sunday's single game will start at 12 p.m.

Troy (14-19-2) dropped a mid-week contest to in-state rival South Alabama on Wednesday, 9-1. Jaycee Affeldt picked up nine strikeouts for the second consecutive game, but took the loss after allowing four runs.Â
The Trojans are led this season by Ebony Wright's .333 batting average. Affeldt has been the star in the circle, as she currently has 123 strikeouts, the third most in the conference.
Georgia State (14-17) dropped a non-conference game to Auburn on Wednesday, 16-1, and has lost five of its last six games. Lauren Coleman leads the Panthers with a .393 batting average, while Tayler Anderson is atop the team with seven home runs and 31 RBIs.
Troy is 29-10 all-time against Georgia State, including 11-1 at home. Last season, Troy defeated Georgia State twice, with both games played at neutral sites.
