Trojans Wrap Up Day Two of Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The second day of competition at the Alabama Relays began on Friday, and the Troy track and field team had strong performances all day.
"We got really good performances out of the shot put and the women's distance events, with several athletes making their marks in the on the all-time top-10 list," head coach Jill Lancaster said. "This meet also offered a variety of relays that gave many athletes a great opportunity and they took advantage of it. Tomorrow offers another set of great opportunities, as well as the invitational events, and we're looking forward to some great marks."
Corina Cox competed in the shot put competition for the Trojans and finished in eighth place with a 13.15-meter throw. Before today's event Cox was ranked tenth in the Sun Belt standings. Cox is also ranked second in discus in the NCAA, and will kick off Saturday's competition in the discus.
Taylor McDonald had a strong performance in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing the event in 1:04.07, placing 11th.
The Troy women's 4x200 meter relay team of Adria Hill, Tiffany Slater, Dallas Worthy and Aleeza Kempton completed the day in eighth place with a time of 1:42.74.
The 4x100 relay will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and the Trojan women, who are currently third in the Sun Belt conference, will seek to continue their success in the event.
Aleeah Stigarll wrapped up competition in the heptathlon, finishing in eighth overall and moving into ninth in Troy history in the event. Stigarll took ninth in the long jump at 5.06 meters and 10th in the javelin with a toss of 26.14 meters.
"I'm very proud of Aleeah today," said Lancaster. "We both are pleased she was able to compete after yesterday and finish eighth. The difference before we started and when she finished is tremendous. She knows she is ready to move forward and has the confidence to do so. She was not intimidated today."
The Trojan men's team started the day off with Douglas Dyer's third place finish in the 1500-meter run portion of the decathlon. Dyer also placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in the decathlon with a 15.75 second performance.
Samuel Johnson also competed in the decathlon. He finished with a fourth place finish in the discus throw, a fifth place pole vault finish and a sixth place finish in the javelin.
Dyer finished the decathlon with 6207 points, placing fifth. Johnson took seventh with 5971 points.
Philip Pritchett ran in the 100-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 10.93 seconds. Pritchett was ranked fourth in the Sun Belt standings in the event before today's race.
Chaun Lynn placed sixth in the 400-meters with a time of 48.77 seconds. This time beats his previous 49.12-second performance at the USF Open that had him ranked fourth in the conference.
Troy's sprint medley team of Lance Holley, Cameron Rice, Steven Mackey and Madison Estes took sixth with a time of 3:32.63. The 4x200-meter relay team of Benjamin Martin, Thaddeus Curtis, Jordan Landburg and Holley placed fifth at 1:26.26.
In the field, Troy's men competed in the triple jump and shot put contests.
Myles Charley finished sixth with a 14.45-meter jump in the triple jump. Charley is ranked third place in the conference and eleventh in the NCAA in the event.
Zach Douglas placed ninth in the shot put with a 16.70-meter throw which is his best performance of the season. Douglas' previous shot put performances have him ranked third in the conference and tenth in the NCAA.
The Alabama Relays will wrap up on Saturday with competition beginning at 12:00 p.m.
