Trojans Begin Competition at Samford Multi and Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Troy track and field team opened up competition at the Samford Multi and Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday morning. The first day of competition featured the pentathlon, 200-meter dash, 5000-meters and distance medley.
Aleeah Stigarll and Riley Schwietz represented the Trojans in the indoor pentathlon. Stigarll placed 18th with 2,865 points, while Schweitz finished in 22nd with 2,312 points. Both athletes saw season-best times in the 60-meter hurdles. Schweitz completed the event with a 9.27 and Stigarll finished in 9.45.
Dallas Worthy finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.26, with Sierra King and Adria Hill finishing closely behind. King finished with a time of 26.38 and Hill completed in 26.50.
Julia Ostendorf placed 12th in the 5,000 meters, finishing with a time of 18:21.64. Freshman Samantha Smith posted a time of 19:11.73, which gives her a season-best for the event.
Troy's distance medley squad of Ostendorf, Tiffany Slater, Marsel Mosley, and Smith finished with a time of 13:20.76.
Competition wraps up tomorrow. Running events will begin at the CrossPlex at 9 a.m. and field events will get started at 10 a.m.
