MONROE, La. - The Troy women's basketball team travels to UL Monroe on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Trojans, who have three games remaining in the regular season, need just one more win to clinch a berth in the Sun Belt Championships.
Live stats and live video for Saturday's game cane be found at ULMWarhawks.com. Fans can hear a live audio broadcast for FREE at TroyTrojans.com. Fans in the Troy area can also hear the broadcast on WTBF 94.7 FM. For live, in-game updates on Twitter, follow @TroyWomensBBall.
Troy (11-15, 7-8) currently sits in sixth place in the Sun Belt standings, a full game ahead of UL Monroe and UL Lafayette who are tied for seventh. Troy is just a game behind fifth-place Georgia State and two behind UALR and Texas State who are tied for third.
The Trojans are coming off of a win over UALR on Wednesday, 86-77. The win was the first in program history over UALR and gave Troy its fifth straight win at Trojan Arena.
That result, combined with a South Alabama loss on Wednesday put Troy's magic number at one. The Trojans are three games up on South Alabama who plays at UL Lafayette on Sunday. Any combination of one Troy win or one South Alabama loss over the remaining three games will put the Trojans in the Sun Belt Championships.
Troy, the Sun Belt's top offensive team, scored 86 points against UALR, the most scored against the league's top defense this season. Troy is now averaging 80.4 points per game, the 19th best mark in the nation.
Joanna Harden leads the Trojans and the Sun Belt in scoring at 25.7 points per game. Harden is the NCAA's fifth leading scorer and has posted 20-plus points 22 times this season, including in 12 straight games.
Harden, an All-America candidate, already holds the Troy single-season record for total points (668). Her scoring average would be the best in Troy history and she would be just the sixth player in Sun Belt history (1982-present) to average 25-plus in a season.
UL Monroe (10-17, 6-9) is coming off of a 76-70 win over South Alabama on Wednesday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Warhawks. ULM started Sun Belt play 3-1, but have since gone 3-8.
The Warhawks won this season's first meeting between Troy and ULM, 83-72, at Trojan Arena. That game came in the midst of an eight-game losing streak for Troy and in the midst of ULM's 3-1 start to Sun Belt play.
Troy is 3-12 all-time against UL Monroe, including six straight losses. The Trojans are 2-5 all-time at Fant-Ewing Coliseum, with the last win coming in 2007-08 in the first round of the Sun Belt Championships.
