Softball Heads to Lipton Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Troy University softball team hits the road again this week for the Litpon Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. Troy begins play on Friday morning at 10:15 a.m. against Georgia Southern. The Trojans will take on No. 1 Florida twice, on Friday and Saturday.

Troy's first matchup with the top-ranked Gators comes on Friday at 3 p.m. The Trojans will face Coastal Carolina at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday before taking on Florida again, at 11 a.m. Troy wraps up competition at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday against Indiana.

Troy (4-5-1) went 2-3 at the Osprey Invitational last weekend, defeating Southern Illinois 5-0 and Savannah State 17-0. Troy's 17 runs against Savannah State were the most in more than three years.

Junior Erica Davis is leading the Trojans in batting average at .423. Michelle Phelps is leading the squad with 12 RBIs, the second most in the Sun Belt Conference. As a team, Troy has posted an ERA of 2.09, the second best average in the league.

The Trojans are 12-6 all-time against Georgia Southern and 1-2 against Indiana. Troy has never faced Florida or Coastal Carolina.
