Troy Returns Home to Face Alcorn State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball team returns home as it faces Alcorn State on Tuesday, December 2, at Trojan Arena. Tip off between the Trojans and the Braves is set for 7 p.m. Troy's new football head coach, Neal Brown, is slated to speak to the crowd at halftime.

The Trojans (1-3) are coming off a tough road schedule, traveling to face Georgia and Southern Miss. At Southern Miss, Troy fell to the Golden Eagles in the final seconds of the game, 72-70. The senior duo of Musa Abdul-Aleem and Kevin Thomas tallied game-high numbers with 26 points and eight rebounds, respectively. Thomas is currently averaging 4.0 offensive boards per game, which ranks 17th in the nation.

Freshman Wesley Person has tallied double-figure scoring in every game this season, and is 6th in the Sun Belt averaging 16.8 points per contest. Person is averaging 3.0 3-pointers per game, which ranks him third in the Sun Belt and 39th in the nation. At the charity stripe, he is 19-of-21 this season, shooting 90.5 percent, which ranks 46th in the nation.

Troy currently leads the Sun Belt in its defense beyond the arc. In its first four games, the Trojans have held their opponents to 25.3 percent shooting from 3-point range, the 21st best mark in the nation.

In their first four games, the Braves lost at California and No. 10 Texas and on a neutral court to Hampton and Kennesaw State. The Braves are led by Preseason SWAC Player of the Year, LeAntwan Luckett who is averaging 16.6 points per game. Last week, he joined the 1,000-point club and was named SWAC Player of the Week.

Last year, Alcorn State and Troy played a double overtime game, in which the Trojans defeated the Braves, 73-70, at Trojan Arena. Thomas recorded a double-double in the matchup, pouring in 15 points and reeling in 12 rebounds.
