MOBILE, Alabama – A record five Troy University soccer players were named to the All-Sun Belt team, the league announced at its annual Championship Banquet Tuesday night.
Â
Junior midfielder Alissa Jones and senior defender Georgia Wallis were named to the first team, while junior forward Chelsey Williams, junior defender Payton Donley and freshman goalkeeper Mikki Lewis landed on the second team.
Â
"It is great for the players and the team to get recognized by the other coaches in the conference," head coach Jason Hamilton said. "We had some players put up great numbers defensively and offensively, and some of those players were recognized with all-conference accolades."
Â
Jones set Troy single-season records for assists (10), points (32) and shots (83). She also set the Troy career record for game-winning goals (9) and shots (148). Jones leads the team with 11 goals on the season.
Â
Wallis and Donley helped lead the Trojans to 11 shutouts, the most in the Sun Belt Conference. Both started all 19 games and played all 1,735 minutes of the regular season.
Â
Williams set Troy career records for goals (25) and points (60), she trails only teammate Alissa Jones in career game-winning goals (7). Williams scored four goals in nine conference games en route to the Trojans best league finish in school history.
Â
Lewis blew away Troy goalkeeping records in 2014. Her 14 wins, 0.88 goals against average and nine shutouts are all new Troy single-season records. She was a two-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week and finished the season with four consecutive shutouts.
Â
Troy's pair of first team selections is the most for the program. In 2013, Necee Jennings became the first Trojan to be named to the All-Sun Belt First Team. Since joining the Sun Belt in 2005, Troy has had a total of six All-Sun Belt selections.
