Â
TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Following an exciting win on Friday, the Troy women's basketball team will have to refocus quickly as it travels to take on Florida A&M on Monday at 6 p.m. CST at the Al Lawson Center.
Â
Florida A&M will provide a FREE live video stream of the game and live stats will also be available.  Links to both of those can be found on the women's basketball schedule page at TroyTrojans.com.  There will not be an audio broadcast of Monday's game. Fans can also find live updates from the game on Twitter by following @TroyWomensBBall.
Â
Troy (1-2) is coming off an 80-78 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Friday at Trojan Arena. The Trojans shot just 27 percent in the first half and trailed by as many as 22 points in the second half. However, down by 20 with eight minutes left, Troy went on a 22-2 run over the next five minutes to tie the score, 70-70.
Â
Troy came away with the final possession in a tie game, 78-78, and got the ball into the hot hand of Aissata Maiga. The senior drive baseline and, after a defensive rotation, found an open Lauren Day under the basket for an easy, game-winning layup with four seconds remaining.
Â
Maiga posted career-highs with 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals against the Lions. She also had three assists, including the game winner. Day set career-highs with five points and five rebounds as she played the final nine minutes, her first action of the season after missing the first two games.
Â
Ashley Beverly-Kelley (14) and Ronita Garrett (11) also scored in double figures for the Trojans on Friday, and they are the only two Trojans to score in double figures in all three games this season. Garrett is averaging a team-high 13.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Her rebounding mark is the second best in the Sun Belt after she posted a double-double in each of Troy's first two games.
Â
Florida A&M (1-2) also picked up its first win of the season in its most recent game, defeating Webber International last Thursday, 52-41, at home. The Lady Rattlers opened the season with losses at Alabama and at home to Alabama State.Â
Â
The Lady Rattlers are in a similar situation as Troy this season as they look to replace a prolific scorer. Troy lost Joanna Harden, the seventh leading scorer in the NCAA a year go, while Florida A&M lost Jasmine Grice, the sixth leading scorer in the NCAA last season.
Â
Grice and Harden scored 33 and 20 points, respectively, last season when Troy and Florida A&M met in Trojan Arena. The Trojans won that game, 100-88, thanks to a 20-4 run to end the game.
Â
Troy leads the all-time series between the two teams, 4-3, but that includes a 0-3 mark in Tallahassee. Prior to last season's meeting, the two sides hadn't met since the 1995-96 season.
