Troy (0-2) is coming off of two losses on a season-opening road trip to Auburn and Clemson. The Trojans fell at Auburn last Friday, 71-54, before falling at Clemson on Sunday, 82-73.
The Trojans fell victim to late first-half runs in both games. Auburn took a 14-point lead into the break after a 12-0 run while Clemson took a six-point lead into halftime thanks to an 11-0 run. At Clemson, Troy closed the gap to five in the second half, but never got closer. The Trojans outrebounded Clemson and also posted a better field goal percentage than the Tigers.
Ronita Garrett was the individual leader for the Trojans last weekend as she posted two double-doubles. Garrett had 14 points and 13 rebounds at Auburn before posting 16 points and 10 rebounds at Clemson. Garrett is the first Trojan since Alecia Jones in 2005-06 to have a double-double in the first two games of a season.
Ashley Beverly-Kelley is also averaging double figures after posting 12 and 10 points, respectively, at Auburn and Clemson. Beverly-Kelley is also leading Troy with six assists on the season, but she has 14 turnovers for a Troy team that averaged 26.0 a game last weekend.
The Trojans will be looking to win their second straight home opener and pick up their first win of the season against their head coach's alma mater. Rigby earned her bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana in 1990, before earning a master's degree from the school in 1998. Early in her coaching career, Rigby won two Louisiana state titles at Loranger High School, just 12 miles from the Southeastern Louisiana campus.
Southeastern Louisiana (1-1) is coming off of a 79-76 win over Southern on Tuesday, in which they lost an 18-point second-half lead before coming back to win. The Lions opened their season with a 109-60 loss at Minnesota.
The Lions are under first-year head coach Yolanda Moore who was a three-time All-SEC selection at Ole Miss and a two-time WNBA Champion with the Houston Comets.
Troy is 1-3 all-time against the Lions, including 1-1 at home, but the two sides haven't met in over a decade with the last meeting coming in the 2003-04 season.
