Â
Troy (9-20, 1-16) has just three more chances to snap its16-match losing streak as the regular season winds down. The Trojans will close their season next weekend with trips to Georgia State and South Alabama.
Â
The Trojans are coming off of a pair of home losses to ULM and UL Lafayette last weekend. The Warhawks came from behind to defeat Troy in five sets on Friday before the Cajuns swept Troy on Saturday.
Â
Junior Blair Winston led the Trojans in kills in each match and moved her career total to 1,006 career kills, making her the 10th player in Troy's Division I history with 1,000 career kills. On the season, Winston is averaging a team-best 3.00 kills/set.
Â
Freshman Reina Terry averaged 9.88 assists/set last weekend as she took over duties as the Trojans' primary setter. Terry posted 49 assists against ULM and 30 against UL Lafayette.
Â
Defensively, Ali Dowdall is on pace to break a Troy single-season record as her 541 digs are already the third most in a single season. The junior needs just 23 more digs to break the record, set by Courtney Cohen two years ago. Dowdall's current 4.83 digs/set average would be the second best in school history. Also, her 5.56 digs/set average in Sun Belt play is the second best mark in the conference.
Â
Texas State (17-11, 12-4) enters the weekend in a tie for second place in the Sun Belt standings with Arkansas State, just half a game ahead of fourth place UT Arlington. The Bobcats have won three of their last four matches, with the lone loss coming to UALR who has already clinched the Sun Belt regular season championship.
Â
The Bobcats defeated Troy earlier this season at Trojan Arena in five sets. Troy is now 0-4 all-time against Texas State.
Â
Texas State will host Georgia State on Friday before Troy visits on Saturday.
