Men’s Basketball Set to Hold Open Scrimmage Saturday

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's basketball squad is hosting an open scrimmage at Trojan Arena on Saturday morning before the homecoming football game. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. as the players begin their warm up. The intrasquad scrimmage will begin at 11 a.m.
Troy opens its season with an exhibition game on Thursday, November 6, against West Florida. The game, which tips off at 7:30 p.m., will be a part of the doubleheader with the women's team, who are hosting Alabama-Huntsville at 5:15 p.m.
The regular season for Troy begins on Friday, November 14, at 7 p.m. as they host Brewton-Parker College. The next game on the home slate is on Monday, November 17, against SEC opponent Ole Miss.
The Trojans finished eighth last year in the Sun Belt Conference with an overall record of 11-20 and a league record 6-12. Troy returns just two players from last year's team, including starting senior forward Kevin Thomas and sophomore guard Kelton Ford. Thomas and Ford both saw action in all 31 games last season with Thomas averaging 9.2 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds per contest.
The Troy roster features nine newcomers and is one of the youngest in the nation, with a total of just seven years of Division I experience.
