Troy Pair Opens Weekend with Tight Matches

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The Troy women's tennis team opened the Roberta Alison Classic, hosted by Alabama, with some tight matches on Friday.
Trang Huynh and Sanae Ohta are the only two Trojans competing the tournament. The pair dropped first round singles matches on Friday, but Ohta rebounded to win a consolation match. Two of the four matches played by the two went to three sets.
Huynh, the nation's 107th ranked singles player, lost to No. 45 Erin Routliffe of Alabama in her first match, 7-5, 6-2. Huynh then lost to LSU's Noelle Scott in the three sets in a consolation match, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
Ohta dropped her opening match to Alabama's Natalia Maynetto, 6-0, 7-6 (5). However, Ohta rebounded to beat Georgia Tech's Kendl Woodard in a consolation match, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6.
Both Huynh and Ohta will play another singles match on Saturday. The pair will also play doubles matches together on Saturday.
