Troy Faces Tough Road Trip to Arkansas

JONESBORO, Arkansas – The Troy volleyball team will make one of its tougher road trips this weekend as the Trojans travel to take on Arkansas State and UALR on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Troy and Arkansas State will get underway at 7 p.m. on Friday. Troy and UALR are set for a 7:30 p.m. first serve on Saturday. Live stats and live video for both matches can be found on the volleyball schedule page on TroyTrojans.com.

Troy (9-16, 1-12) is looking to snap a 12-match losing streak and is well rested. The Trojans have played just one match in the last 11 days, a home loss to Georgia State.

Blair Winston leads the Trojans offensively with a 2.94 kills/set average overall and a 2.80 kill/set mark in Sun Belt play. Three other Trojans average over 2.00 kills/set, including Marija Zelenovic, Symone Shaw and Kiah Cheatham.

Ali Dowdall leads the Trojans defensively with 4.85 digs/set overall and 5.78 digs/set in Sun Belt play, the second best mark in the conference. The junior libero has 475 digs this season, already the fifth most in a single season in the Trojans' Division I era (1993-present).

Arkansas State (13-8, 8-4) has won two straight matches, defeating Appalachian State and South Alabama at the Convocation Center last weekend. The Red Wolves are 5-1 at home this season and Friday's match will close a three-match homestand.

The Red Wolves won this season's earlier match at Trojan Arena, defeating the Trojans in five sets. The loss moved Troy to 1-11 all-time against Arkansas State, a mark that includes an 0-5 record in Jonesboro.

UALR (19-4, 13-0) sits atop the Sun Belt standings and has won 14 straight matches. The Trojans defeated Texas State and Appalachian State last weekend at the Jack Stephens Center where they are 7-0 this season.

UALR defeated Troy in four sets just two weeks ago in the season's first meeting between the two. With that loss, Troy is now 2-9 against UALR, including a 1-4 mark in Little Rock.

UALR travels to ULM on Friday before hosting Troy on Saturday.
