Men’s Golf Leads After Two Rounds of The Intercollegiate

COLLEGE GROVE, Tennessee – The Troy men's golf team will take a four stroke lead into the final round of The Intercollegiate at The Grove Club after shooting a 304 during Monday's second round.
Scores were high across the board as teams battled a much more difficult course during their second go around. The Trojans carried a 10-shot lead into Monday, but No. 50 GRU Augusta cut into Troy's advantage after shooting a 296 for the low round of the day.
Troy will be gunning for its first team title since winning the F&M APSU Intercollegiate in 2006 when it tees off Tuesday morning.
Jared Bettcher led Troy on Monday with a 1-over 73 after carding an eagle and three birdies around a double-bogey and three bogeys. Bettcher and Luke Moser are tied for 11th place at 3-over for the tournament and are just a pair of shots out of the top five.
Moser made the turn at 2-over and finished his day with a 6-over 78, while Jake Tucker had an up-and-down round with five birdies to go along with five bogeys, a double-bogey and a triple-bogey. Tucker finished his day at 5-over and finds himself in a tie for fourth place.
Tolver Dozier will enter the final round tied for ninth place after shooting a 6-over 78 on Monday. Dozier is 2-over for the tournament and just two shots out of third place. Phillip Brennan shot Troy's second best round of the day with a 4-over and is in a tie for 33rd place.
Troy leads third-place Lipscomb by seven shots and has a 10-stroke advantage over No. 39 Ohio State. Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong holds the individual lead at 5-under through the two rounds.
