TROY, Alabama – The Troy University soccer team will play its final two home games of the season starting with a 7 p.m. match against Georgia State on Friday. The team will wrap up the weekend at 1 p.m. on Sunday against Georgia Southern; the team's seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony. Live stats and live video will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
The Trojans (10-5, 2-3 Sun Belt) are looking to snap a mini-skid after falling in their last two games. The team traveled over 2,500 miles in three days en route to losses at Appalachian State and Texas State.
Junior Chelsey Williams scored on a penalty in the 62nd minute against Appalachian State to move her one step closer to setting a new Troy scoring record. Williams enters the weekend with 22 career goals, one shy of tying current career leader Jill Pinder. The goal also tied her with Mary Morris with 53 career points.
Abby Reynolds continued to contribute offensively, scoring her fourth goal in three games against Appalachian State.
Georgia State (5-6-4, 3-1-1) enters the weekend fresh off a 2-0 win over Georgia Southern on Sunday. Whitney Raven scored both of the Panthers' goals and leads the Sun Belt with 11 points on five goals and one assist in conference play. The Trojans are 7-0 at home on the season while Georgia State is 1-4-3 on the road. The Panthers lead the all-time series with Troy 7-3. Georgia State won last year's matchup 2-1 in overtime.
Troy will also bit farewell to four seniors. Jane Latif, Kailani Decock, Paige McMillan and Georgia Wallis will all play their final home game for the Trojans.
Georgia Southern (9-3-1, 4-1) suffered its first Sun Belt loss at the hands of Georgia State. Melinda Lukas paces the Eagles with six goals on the season while Nora El-Shami has recorded a team-high six assists to go along with four goals. Georgia Southern won the only meeting between the teams in 1997.
