TROY, Alabama – Former Trojan Antoine Myers just signed to play professionally overseas in Germany with German club, City Basket Recklinghausen.
Â
Recklinghausen head coach Thomas Roijakkers expects to have Myers eligible and ready to play this weekend for their match up against Madgeburg on Sunday, October 19. Roijakkers hopes Myers will bring an offensive edge and versatility to the roster. Recklinghausen is currently 1-1 on the season.
"That is some great news about Antoine, or Fresh as we call him, signing to play professionally in Germany! He is an unorthodox player who coaches and general managers probably questioned in some areas as a guard, but he just needed a chance," said head coach Phil Cunningham.  "It's hard to describe how a shooting guard who doesn't shoot a lot of 3's can still impact a game in so many positive ways, but that is exactly what he does.  The theme of his young life has been to succeed when others didn't think he could do so, and I'm confident that he will continue that pattern as a professional athlete."
Myers played with Troy from 2012-2014, and saw action in 64 games throughout his career, starting in 59. Â In the 2013-14 season, Myers was Troy's second leading scorer, averaging 12.1 points per contest, shooting 50.8 percent from the field. He led the Trojans on the court in seven games this past season, including 18 games in double figures. He posted a career-high 21 points against UT Arlington.
Â
In his first year with Troy, Myers saw action in 33 games, including 28 starts. As Troy's fourth leading scorer in 2012-13, he averaged 8 points and three rebounds per game. Â
Â
Myers graduated this past summer with a degree in social science.Â
