Troy Pair in Top 10; Trojans in Sixth Following Two Rounds of JU Classic

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – The Troy women's golf team is in sixth place following the opening two rounds of the JU Classic played at the Marsh Landing Country Club on Monday. Taylor McGraw is tied for sixth and Fátima Fernández Cano is tied for eighth following the opening 36 holes.
Troy sat in third place after shooting a 298 in the opening round and now sits just seven strokes behind second-place Daytona State, who is nine shots back of Coastal Carolina.
McGraw sank 26 pars on the day, the second most in the field, as she shot a 1-over 73 in both rounds. The Troy senior had three birdies during her opening round and one birdie the second time through the course.
Cano bounced back from a 3-over 75 in the opening round to shoot even par over the second 18 holes. The sophomore had a pair of birdies during both of her rounds. Competing as an individual, Sydney Conrad is tied for 18th place after she shot a 72 in the first round and a 78 in round two.
Langley Vannoy started her day strong as she carded a 2-over 74 in the first round and played steady throughout as she tied McGraw with 26 pars. However, two big numbers – a triple-bogey and a 6-over – on back-to-back par 5s sunk her second round. Vannoy is tied with teammate Brooke Spinks for 40th after Spinks shot a 78 and a 77. Becca Horner rounded out the field for the Trojans in a tie for 46th place.
Troy will tee off beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday along with Boston University and Charleston Southern.
