Women’s Golf Heads to JU Classic

TROY, Alabama – Fresh off a victory at its last tournament, the Troy women's golf team heads to the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., for the JU Classic hosted by Jacksonville University on Monday and Tuesday.
The Trojans dominated the field at the Chris Banister Golf Classic two weeks ago as they won by 16 strokes while Fátima Fernandez Cano and Langley Vannoy finished first and second individually. It was the second victory in the past four tournaments for both Troy and Cano.
The 15-team field for the par 72, 5,967-yard course includes Boston University, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Daytona State, Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville, Maryland, McNeese State, North Florida, Seminole State, Stetson, USC Upstate and Western Carolina.
Cano leads the Trojans with a 73.83 stroke average and has had all six of her rounds counted towards the team score. Vannoy's strong play at the Chris Banister lowered her average for the season to a 75.67 while Taylor McGraw sits third with a 76.17.
Becca Horner and Brooke Spinks will both be playing in the second tournament of the fall for the Trojans, while Sydney Conrad will compete as an individual.
The Trojans are averaging a 302.8 per round as a team so far this season but have played remarkably well in the third round of their first two tournaments. Troy carries a 296 average in the final round heading into the JU Classic.
