Troy (4-9, 0-2) is coming off of an 86-69 loss to WKU on home on Saturday. That game started a stretch of three straight against the top three teams in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches' Poll that continues this week at Arkansas State and UALR.
In Saturday's loss to WKU, the Trojans started slow and never recovered as Joanna Harden (25), Ashley Beverly-Kelley (20) and Brooke Bowie (18) combined for all but six of the Trojans' points.
Troy is averaging 83.2 points per game, the 16th best mark in the NCAA and the best in Sun Belt, more than 10 points better than second place (72.9 ppg). The Trojans also lead the Sun Belt in rebounding (45.7 rpg), blocks (4.9 bpg) and steals (10.5 spg).
Harden is averaging 24.8 points per game, the fifth best mark in the NCAA and tops in the Sun Belt. She has scored 20-plus in 10 of 13 games this season, including in four straight.
Arkansas State (8-6, 2-0) features the second leading scorer in the Sun Belt in Aundrea Gamble (18.4 ppg). Gamble had 26 points, five rebounds and seven assists in the Red Wolves most recent game, an 87-71 win at Texas State.
The Red Wolves opened Sun Belt play with a win at UT Arlington before the road win over Texas State. Arkansas State has won four of its last five games, with the lone loss coming at Texas A&M.
Not only will Troy be looking to snap a five-game losing streak overall, the Trojans will also be looking to halt a five-game skid against the Red Wolves. Troy is 3-8 all-time against Arkansas State, but ASU has won the last five meetings, including the last two at the Convocation Center where Troy is 1-3 all-time.
After Wednesday's game, the Trojans will make the drive to Little Rock, Ark., for a Saturday contest at Preseason Sun Belt favorite UALR.
