Trojans Release 2014 Track and Field Schedule

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University track and field team has released its 2014 indoor and outdoor track and field schedule. The Trojans will compete in eight different states in 2014, beginning in January and ending in June.
"We have put together a great schedule that puts us up against some of the best teams in our region," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "The talented recruiting class, along with our returners, had a great fall and we look forward to watching the teams progress."
The Trojans open up indoor competition at the UAB Blazer Invitational on January 10-11. In all, three of the five regular season indoor meets that Troy will compete in will take place in Birmingham.Â
The indoor championship season begins on February 24 at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14-15.
Outdoor season begins with the Jaguar Opener on Friday, March 7, in Mobile, Ala. The Trojans will also compete at South Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia in 2014, before closing out the regular season with the annual Coach "O" Invitational at Troy on April 25-26.Â
The Trojans will travel to San Marcos, Texas from May 9-11 for the 2014 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships. The NCAA Regional Championship will take place the final weekend in May in Jacksonville, Fla., and the NCAA Championships will take place in Eugene, Ore., from June 11-14.
"The veterans know what NCAA Division I athletics is about," Lancaster said. "It is going to be exciting to see how the new talent competes at this new level. Obviously there will be some learning curves, but if the fall and inter-squad are any indication, we have a lot to look forward to this season."
