TROY, Ala. – ESPN has selected Troy's men's basketball game against Georgia State in Trojan Arena on Saturday, February 15, as its Sun Belt Wildcard game to be televised on ESPN2. As a result of the change, tipoff has been moved to 5 p.m.
The game will be the first to be televised nationally from the new Trojan Arena. Troy's $40 million, 5,200 seat arena opened up prior to the 2012-13 season.
The Trojans have met the Panthers once already this season, falling on the road, 81-72. Troy was led by a stellar performance by Hunter Williams, who shot 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Kevin Thomas also had a tremendous game, picking up a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Troy gets solid contributions from across the board, with six players averaging at least seven points per game. Hunter Williams is currently leading the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game, after a pair of impressive scoring performances last weekend.
Georgia State currently leads the Sun Belt Conference by two games. The Panthers are led by a pair of guards, in R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow. Both rank in the top-5 in the SBC in points per game, with Hunter at 19.5 and Harrow at 17.8.
The women's basketball game between Troy and Georgia State has also been moved and will tipoff at 7:45 p.m.
