Trojans Fall Twice at Seminole Quad

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Troy men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches at the Seminole Quad tournament on Monday. The Trojans lost their first match to Florida A&M, 4-3, before falling to No. 36 Florida State, 6-1.

Troy (0-3) won the doubles point against Florida A&M (2-4) to start the day. Troy's Sami Ghorbel and Daniel Bustamante won at No. 3 and No.4 singles, respectively. However, Florida A&M took the other four singles matches, including the lone three-set match, to clinch the win.

The Trojans rebounded to win the doubles point against nationally-ranked Florida State (8-0). After a loss at No.2, Troy's Mansingh Athare and Ghorbel, the ninth-ranked duo in the ITA Southern region, won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, to pull Troy even.

Bustamante and Gabriel Sciacca Dias then won at No. 3 doubles in a tiebreaker, 6-5 (2), to clinch the opening point for Troy.

Florida State, an NCAA Tournament team a year ago, went on win all six singles matches in straight sets to defeat the Trojans.

Troy returns to the court when it travels to take on No. 28 Auburn.
