Men’s Hoops to Host UL Lafayette Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team is looking to bounce back, with UL Lafayette coming to town for a Saturday evening showdown. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be part of a double-header with the women's team.

Troy (7-10, 2-3 SBC) was defeated by UL Monroe on Thursday night, 75-64. It was a back-and-forth contest, with the Warhawks pulling away in the closing minutes. Jeff Mullahey and Hunter Williams led the team with 16 points each, while Kevin Thomas grabbed 11 boards.

Antoine Myers is atop the team in points per game at 12.7. Williams is right behind with 11.6 points per contest. As a team, Troy is outrebounding opponents in Sun Belt games by 8.4 boards per game, the best in the league.

UL-L (11-6, 2-2 SBC) fell at South Alabama on Thursday night, 81-73. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are led by Shawn Long and Elfrid Payton, the second and third highest scorers in the league. Long is also the team's top rebounder, at 10.8 per contest.

Troy is 5-8 all-time against UL-L, including a split last season in which the home team won each game. Troy's 19-point win over UL-L at home was its largest margin of victory of the season.
