Men’s Golf Adds Indiana Transfer Sean Stone

TROY, Ala. – Sean Stone, one of the top rated golfers coming out of high school in 2012, has transferred to Troy from Indiana University and will be immediately eligible to play for the Trojans this spring.
Stone was the top ranked player in the state of Indiana and the 43rd rated player in the country his senior year in high school by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. The Evansville, Ind., native won the 2012 Indiana High School State Championship after shooting a 4-under 140.
He played in five tournaments as a true freshman for Hoosiers during the 2012-13 season and posted a 75.27 stroke average over 15 rounds. His best finish of the year came at the NYX Hooiser Invitational where he shot a 5-under 211 to finish in a tie for sixth place.
Stone, who played in one tournament this fall before deciding to transfer to Troy, recorded an impressive runner-up finish at the 2011 McDonald's Amateur (67-71—138) and helped Evansville Harrison High School knock off two-time defending state champion Brebeuf Jesuit for the 2012 Indiana state title.
The Troy men open their spring schedule on Feb. 23-24 at the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
