Final Results
DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. – The Troy men's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate, which concluded play on Tuesday. Phillip Brennan's 14th-place finish led the Trojans after he wrapped up the 54-hole tournament with a 6-over-par 222 on the Signature Calibogue Course at Haig Point Club.
The Trojans entered the back nine in sixth place after shooting 8-over-par as a team on the front nine. However, the final nine holes of the tournament proved to be the most difficult as Troy's four scoring players shot a 20-over-par as a group.
Brennan's success in the 2013-14 season opener continues an upward trend for the junior after he turned in four top 17 finishes over Troy's final five tournaments last season.
Kennesaw State charged past South Florida in the final round to win the team title while South Florida's Chase Koepka won the individual title with a 4-under-par 212.
Jake Tucker posted a top 20 finish for the Trojans after carding a 76 on Tuesday. Tucker finished tied for 16th after shooting a three-round total of 224. Tolver Dozier finished the day 12-over-par to slip into a tie for 42nd place, while Kyle Thommesen finished tied for 50th and Wil Clowdus finished tied for 65th.
The Trojans will take a couple of weeks off before heading to Duluth, Ga., for the Auto Trader Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia State at the Berkeley Hills Country Club.
