Troy Volleyball Returns Home to Host Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – After two weeks on the road, the Troy volleyball team returns to Trojan Arena on Tuesday night when Alabama State will visit for a 7 p.m. match.

Troy (4-6) is coming off of a big win over Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Trojans hit .259 as a team in their four-set win over the Yellow Jackets at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic.

The Trojans narrowly missed a second win against tough competition on the weekend as they dropped a narrow, five-set decision to Connecticut on Friday. Troy dominated the first two sets against the Huskies, but couldn't hold on to a late lead as UConn won the fifth set 18-16.

Marija Zelenovic led the Trojans on the weekend as she averaged over 3.00 kills/set and was Troy's lone selection to the all-tournament team. The junior outside hitter is now averaging 3.44 kills/set on the season, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt.

Senior libero Courtney Cohen posted 51 digs last weekend and ran her career total up to 1,698 digs, the 15th most among active players in the NCAA. Cohen, who has posted at least 10 digs in 15 straight matches, is just 31 digs shy of setting the Troy all-time career record.

Alabama State (5-7) is coming off of a 3-1 showing at its own ISTAP Collegiate Cup last weekend. The Hornets defeated New Orleans, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Savannah State with their lone loss coming to Jacksonville State.

In it's Division I history (1993-present), Troy is 26-0 against Alabama State, including a 13-0 mark at home. The two sides met last year in Montgomery, Ala., with Troy sweeping that contest.
