Troy Soccer Opens Preseason Camp

Troy Fan Day Set for Aug. 17
TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team took to the field on Tuesday to open fall camp as the Trojans head into the 2013 season with eight returning starters from last year's squad.
"I think we've got a good core group of girls. The talent level is where it needs to be in terms of depth," Troy head coach Chris Bentley said at Tuesday's session. "We just need to stay healthy, look out for one another and get through the preseason in a good way."
Troy returns its second-leading point scorer junior Cecilia Thorngren (four goals, nine assists) as well as four players who scored multiple goals during the 2012 season. The Trojans also returns Madison Winter in goal as the senior picked up six of Troy's nine wins and recorded two shutouts a year ago.
The Trojans also add seven newcomers to the 2013 as this group looks to provide depth and gain valuable experience during preseason practice in preparation for the upcoming year.
Troy will play a pair of exhibitions before starting the regular season on the road at Alabama State on Friday, Aug. 23. Troy will host the University of Mobile on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. and AUM on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. in exhibition contests. Admission to all Troy soccer games is free.
Fans can meet the 2013 squad at Troy's Fan Day on Saturday, Aug. 17 in Trojan Arena. Members of the 2013 team, as well as players from the football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading teams will availiable for pictures and to sign autographs.
